Since its breakthrough in 2019, Svelte has continued to amaze many frontend developers around the globe with its ease of use and accessibility. Part of this was a surprisingly stable core API, with mostly just additive changes over the years. This all changes with the upcoming release of Svelte 5, which introduces a host of new and better abstractions for reactivity, event handling and reusability of markup, while remaining backwards compatible. In this talk, I’ll introduce you to the new mechanics and teach you the basics of Svelte along the way. This session is suitable for every developer interested in the broader frontend ecosystem, as well as seasoned Svelte developers looking for guidance on the coming updates.
